Monday Poetry: Odyssey

My odyssey
This last year
Has been a great adventure
With turning 18
I gained many responsibilities
Being able to do the lottery
Getting my license a month later
Publishing my first book
Prom
And
Graduation
Then came my second book
Plus a blog with engaged readers
Then came my first podcast
Maybe someday more will come
I continued to blog with Monday poetry
By September I published my latest poetry book
As well as starting my first part-time job
Struggling to juggle School, work, and blogging
I try to continue Monday poetry
And occasionally have an update post
National Write a Novel Month
Brought great joy
With draft one done
Editing is just my future
In hopes to publish this summer
Now with 2015 coming to a close
And a new year full of great opportunities
I am excited to see what 2016 will bring for me!

Happy New Year!!!!!!
So this week prompt is Odyssey. So I did a reflective poem about what 2015 did for me. Which is a lot. This was my odyssey of 2015.
What is your 2015 odyssey?
Comment with your answer.
Maybe try it in a poem.
Thanks for reading!

Monday Poetry: Wrapping

Tis the Season

The time of year

When after eating

turkey, mash potatoes, corn and more

We rush to the store

To catch that Black Friday Sale!

Thou many of us forget the true meaning of

Christmas

It is really not about what you receive

It is about celebrating with

Family

Or giving to thus who may be able

to afford a wonderful Christmas otherwise

Let us all be thankful for what we have

and give

Marry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy Honoka too!

So today's poem is on wrapping though the person who runs Poetry 101: Rehab said to write a poem about what this time of the year means to me. So that is what I was aiming for in this poem.

Hope you enjoyed this poem!

Monday Poetry: Fallacy

Fantasy

There is  a world

that is different from ours

Where false statements are true

There is a world full of

Dragons,

witches, and wizards

A world that our dreams

Are true

Let your dreams run wild tonight!

This week's poem is on Fallacy. Though I may not have followed the theme. As I learned in speech class, Fallacy is a false statement of something. I also wanted to give everyone a heads up that I have updated My Poetry Through Years book on kindle. So please check for an update on it soon!

Happy Reading,

Kaitlyn

Monday Poetry: Magic

Magic

The time of year

when things put a smile

on your face

or

a twinkle

in your eye

the magic of Christmas

Those who believe

and give

The Magic of Giving

So I finally got this week's poetry rehab's prompt of magic and wanted to make it describe the time of year we are in right now, coming close to Christmas. Where all the children believe in Santa and the magic of giving to those in need.

Marry Christmas,

November Update

Hi, everyone! So last time I chatted with you I mentioned that I was doing National Write a Novel Month. Well, November has come and gone and I have finished my first draft! So now I am working my butt off, when I can find the time, to edit, edit, edit! In hopes to have this done within the next few months. Once I am done with this proses I want to offer you an opportunity to become a beta reader for me. What you will do is once I am happy with what I have edited and had a few of my closest friends read it. I want you to read it as well and let me know your thoughts on the novel. With doing so, you will get a free copy to read and give me your thoughts. Then once I am promoting for pre-order I will send you a free copy of the finished product. In hope, you would write a review on amazon. You can become my beta reader if you sign up for my newsletter! Within the coming months, I will be sending an email about this in more detail. So, I hope you will celebrate with me! On one draft done and many more to come!

LET'S PARTY!!!!!!

Happy ThanksGiving and Black Friday!

Hi, Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Spending time with family and friends and not shopping until now. I enjoyed my Thanksgiving, we watched May's Thanksgiving parade and then went to see Goosebumps in 3D. I enjoyed the movie. Then we went to Golden Coral for dinner, and I did have my turkey and mashed potatoes. Once we were finished eating, we went to the BestBuy in the strip mall and my parents picked up some stuff as I kept my sister occupied since my parents were picking up something for her. Then we went to Target as well, and there was a Starbucks there. Making a joke, I said we could get hot chocolate. Of course, I was forced to get my sister a hot chocolate. That was the only thing I bought that last night. Bestbuy was more packed then Target was since we arrived at Bestbuy as they were letting people in. No one got hurt or any fights of what I know of. So I hope everyone had a get Thanksgiving and Shopping this great Black Friday.

Happy Holidays,

Kailyn

New Self-Publishing Resources

Hi, Everyone! I have been busy searching many different marketing services that I could use to promote my books. Earlier today, Amazon send me a newsletter and on the right-hand side I saw many new services Amazon has. I looked into all of them and now so excited that I want to share them with you and see if you would help me use these services.

  1. http://www.kindlescout.com- this is a new publishing service with Amazon where the readers are in control on which books get published. I think this could be an excellent opportunity for me to use for my novel that should come out this summer. Please check the site out and let me know if you would help me become published through this service.

  2. http://www.acx.com- an audiobook self-publishing service. Where I can get an audiobook version of my book available on Audible, Amazon and iTunes. I think I will also try this service with my novel. Unless otherwise requested.

Please check out these sites and let me know what you like through commenting!

I would like to thank you all for the support and hope to write soon!

Pray for Paris

Pray for Paris

As many of you have heard that there were six attacks in Pairs yesterday. I do not know a lot to be honest but, I wanted to do a particular post to ask you, my readers, to pray for Paris. They are in for a rough time, and we all need to stand and help them. Even with the language barrier. So for the next few days I want everyone to reflect on how our lives are unique and one hundred and twenty life were lost yesterday. (That is the number I heard last night on the news. I do not know if that is still true.)

Unique

our lives

are special

They are

important

but,

when lives

are

cut short

It is

not fair

But,

the world

is never fair

Today lets

Reflect

on how

unique

our lives

are

and

Pray for

the

120

lives

lost

PRAY FOR PARIS

Fifty Word Flash Fiction

One October FranklyWrite.com Photo | Prompt

My Dream Wedding

My new life with the love of my life begins with the five hundred dollar wedding dress and his nicely pressed tux with a bowtie of course. After we had said our vows, we partied the night away with our families. This is my dream wedding. Chesses!

So a new challenge that I am starting for flash fiction that is only fifty words long this will be a monthly event.

Hope you enjoyed this Flash Fiction!

Heart beating

Five times faster

You can not breath

Or

Think

Where is she?

"Kailyn!!!!!!!!"

No answer

Heart rate rises

"Kailyn!!!!!!!!!"

No answer

So inspiration is just what a mother or parent is feeling as they are looking for their lost child. The panic and fear.

Sorry for the miss absent

What I have Been and am Doing.

Hi, everyone! Happy Wednesday! I wanted to do an update for you guys! I did a little bit of changing to the site today and will continue to do so. The biggest difference so far is my book pages have totally upgraded. They are, I believe, more professional so, please take a peek at them! Also, it is November! This month is special for a writer because it is writing a novel month! Therefore, I have joined a site called NaNoWriMo. This site is designed for writers to come together with one primary goal, to write 50,000 words by the end of the month. In which this becomes their novel. I am planning on finishing my first novel and have it published by summer in 2016 if not sooner. Therefore, all my writing is focused on finishing this book this month.  So if you do not see many post this month that is why. I plan to continue the Monday Poetry. There will a post after this with this weeks poem.

Thank you, everyone, for your support!

More news to come in the following months, make sure to subscribe to my newsletter, to get sneak peeks on my newest books.

This is Our Year!

This is our year Cubs fans!

Just last night the Cubs beat the Cardinals 6-4 earning the national league division championship! Just as it was predicted in Back to the Future part 2. The Chicago Cubs are going to make it all the way. Now as we the fans keep holding our breath. It is time to celebrate in style. We have until Saturday to enjoy the win as we wait to see who the Cubs will play next. It could be the New York Mets or the L.A.. Dodgers My mom and I are hoping it would be the Mets for the time difference reason. Though whoever it may be, the Chicago Cubs will get through it. Last night after we won the four of us went out and bought the new shorts. My Dad even put on Cubs music that we have while driving over. When we won my mom was so happy she was crying and I believe she is still in shock. I am just excited as she is and wish that my Nanna was here. She would have had a huge bet at the nursing home she was at since everyone there are cardinals fans. Even though they are still in the state of Illinois.  She would be yelling at the top of her lungs that the cubs won and have a party. I am not sure what the bet would have been but, I am sure everyone would have to be wearing Cubs shorts and state that the cubs are better than the Cardinals. That would be that start of it I am sure she would have made it more interesting. I even have my Cubbie Bear with me as I write this. I decided that he needed a vacation from working so hard with these games. He needed the time out of the house. With that, I would like to close with a poem I wrote a few years back as a birthday gift for my Mom.  This poem can also be found in my first poetry book.

The World Series

Every year

Everyone holds their breath

For one day

Crossing their fingers

Every day

Just hoping that

Their home team

 Makes it

Praying; cheering

Celebrating the day!

That day is when the

Chicago Cubs

WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!

ALL WAS QUIET!

This is the Year!

Writing 201: Poetry Day 2-4

Hi, everyone! I am doing a giant post of the last few days that I missed with writing 201. So these are the poems I wrote for the last few assignments.

Day 2: gift, Acrostic, and smile

Gift

A box

box with color

color rapper

dots and stars

elephants too.

Flowers bright as the sun

Gifts

Day 3: Skin, Prose Poetry and Internal Rhyme

Tree

As tall as the empire state building. You can't stand away. green as grass leaves. brown as bricks bark. bark as rough as a mountain. Bark that protects from the weather. rain, snow, and wind you still stand.

Day 4: Imperfect, Limerick, and enjambment

We are imperfect

which can cause  conflict

We may yell and fight

Yet we all may be right

We are all imperfect

So here are my poems so I am caught up with writing 201: Poetry! YAY!

Hope you enjoy these poems!

Comment bellow!

Would you buy a book of all the poems I have writen on my blog?

I have been thinking for a long time. If I should take all the poems I have written on my blog and make it available as a book. So I have a poll for everyone to answer for me. This poll will expire in a week. Please be honest as you can with this. I just want to know if anyone would really buy the book if I put one together.

Also, maybe in the comments add what device you would like to read the book. That way I can make sure I have it available for everyone.

Thank you for your feedback!

P.S. Thank you for those of you who filled out the last two polls. I got an even result of how to create a blog and use it and how to write poetry. So I will work on those as well. Thank you for the four poeple who did those polls.

Blogging 201 Day 9: Buddy System

Hi, everyone. I would like to ask you something. If I were to have a guest speaker, what kind of person would you like to have guest speak? I was thinking since, this is the theme of the blog, that I would have someone who is self-published. They may not be a poet or short story writer like me but could be a fiction writer who has written a novel. I could do non-fiction but, unsure what you, the reader, would like. So please fill out the poll I created and if you would like to explain your choice you can comment too. This is today's assignment for blogging 201. If you are a self-published writer and are interested please go to my "contact me" page and email me.
Thanks, everyone!

writing 101, Day 5: Let social media inspire you!

https://twitter.com/leverus/status/593065340516618240

I find it hard for me to write an essay or a research paper. But, when it come to poetry and stories... it just comes to me. Though, I may need improvement on my grammar and things but, I enjoy it more! Just as much as being around all the young kids. That is why I have been fighting in my head should I really be going to  school to become a teacher or should I really try to do more writing. The plan was that I go to school for teaching and get a secured job. Then I do the writing on the side until I HAVE to quit teaching and become a full-time writer. But, see the thing is I never planned on publishing just before graduation. I never thought I would blog. This seemed to get off the topic of the tweet... that is ok, right?

Comment bellow what you would like to see me do.

Writing 101 Day 6: The space to write

So for today's assignment for writing 101, I am to tell you where I write.

So the two main places I most likely be writing at is at school and home.

At school I will mainly write in the library where there are small offices for students to sit down and do homework, Then there is what I am doing right now I am just at a small table outside my class I am waiting to let in.

At home, I mainly hide up in my room to write. I just sit on my bed with my laptop on my lap desk. I find it less distracting to be up in my room since everyone else is downstairs watching tv.

My Poetry Through the Years: Book 2 Available for Pre-order!

Hello, Everyone! I am  very excited to announce that my second poetry book is available for pre-order on kindle! This book is packed with even more fun poems to read and enjoy.  You can pre-order the book starting today and it will be available September 18.

In this book of poems, the main theme is change, summer and more. The reason behind these themes is, at the time of writing many of the poems are in the theme of life change. These poems let me reflect on the fact that I had just graduated high school and gotten my diploma. I was still a little in shock in the fact that I was done with high school and ready to jump into the real world.

The other theme of summer. At the time, of course, it was summer in Juneish. So I had to write on how hot it was and so on.

Then there are a few poems that do not go into the two main themes of change and summer. They are the miscellanies poems that I wrote when the inspiration came to me.

Now to the cover, I created the cover to represent new beginnings with the door nob. Which is a very important part of this book, change and new beginnings are part of our lives. It is normal to feel scared to what may come. This poem book helped me reflect on these changes. There will be a different cover for the other e-books and paperback. A friend of mine is designing for me. I will keep you updated on the cover design.

my poetry through the years book2 cover

On another news is that I will have my first poetry book free from Monday, September 14- Friday, September 18th to celebrate the second book coming out.

Friday Update!

Hi, everyone! If you did not see my Wednesday flash fiction post. I announced that my life is getting a bit busier. I started college at the end of August. So now I most try to focus on homework. Also, I finally start my first part-time job a week from today!

So I am now working at a children's museum near me where I am on the floor engaging children to learn as they play. I am very excited to start work here since, I went to the museum as a child and I was volunteering a little bit before they had a flood. Flood?! You may say. Yes, a flood let me explain. In January, we had a few very cold days to the point that the museum was closed. Overnight the second day of being closed the main pipe broke and flooded all three floors of the museum. So that morning one of the workers came in and found that the place was flooded. Since, the museum had been under repair and made many improvements. When I received an email that they were going to start hiring I jump on the bandwagon and applied. I crossed my fingers for luck. I was asked to do an interview and did. Then, at the beginning of August I accepted the job. I have been going through training and will start a week from today.

I am very excited to be able to work in a very fun and inviting environment! Noting this, with working and school, I may not be able to blog as much as I would like. I hope to keep up with my Monday poetry and the Wednesday flash fiction. Though the podcast will not be able to do once a month. I hope to do them maybe every two or three months depending on my schedule. With this being said if I stop blogging for a month this is why and I will do my very best to put away time to blog.

I want to thank everyone for supporting me these last few months. I hope everyone will continue to support me as I make my schedule changes.

STAY TUNE FOR MORE EXCITING NEWS TOMORROW!

Wednesday Flash Fiction at LAST!

Before I get to the story I want to say sorry I have not been doing this. The last few topics just did not call out to me. I have also started school where I need to focus on my homework. Then there is another thing I am starting my first part-time job in a week and a half. I am so excited to have had this opportunity to finally work with a paycheck. I know there are a few done sides to that taxes and things like that. BUT, I will be paid on normal bases. So what I am trying to say my life is going to get very busy. So If I stop posting that is why and maybe a little hello may help me interact. I do have Cortana remind me about posts but, I think I need to decide on a different time for her to do it.

So here is this week Flash Fiction!

© 2015, Marcy B. Ayanian

“As her mount shifted uneasily under her, she grasped the brim of her old felt Stetson, gazed upwards and remembered Jean Pierre.”

“How did I get here?” she asked herself, looking around franticly.

“I do not remember anything. One second I was…” She said trying to think what she was doing before all of this happened.

“I don’t remember…I don’t remember!” She said ready to cry a river.

“What wrong?” a low voice man asked behind her. She tried to put herself together.

“O nothing… I thought I did not know where I was but, I do, I am in Paris.” She said turning around and smiling.

“O well if that is the case then I need you to come with me.” The man said pulling out a gun. She was in shock. Then other men came behind her and grabbed her arms.

“What are you doing? Let me go!” she screened and struggled to get out of the men’s arms.

“You are special Kim. You must be contained.”

I know it is a cliff hanger. Sorry, maybe one day you will be able to learn what happens.

Until next time!

Make us

who we are

Every moment

we choose

from

making friends,

saying "Yes"

to

running away,

joining the "wrong" group

These things make us

who we are

MAKE THE DECISION

YOU WILL NOT REGRET!

So this is this weeks prompt Decisions. I took the idea to describe what these choices mean to us.

Ensure all of these bloggers have less than 200 followers.
Answer the eleven questions asked to you by the person who nominated you, and make eleven questions of your own for your nominees or you may use the same questions.
Lastly, COPY these rules in the post.

So here are the 11 questions asked by me to answer:

1/ Who or what inspired you to write books/blogs ?

Well I guess I did. My main dream is to become a best selling author. So when i found out that I could self-publish I had to do it so that is when My poetry through the years book was born. I also got the creativeness from my Grandma (nanna) who is the one who past a way a year a go this last Monday August 10th.  I created a special post for her called A Year After... If you want to check it out. Also my Great Aunt who is also a writer inspired me that I could write just like her. She has a blog too. Safe and Sound Blog

2/ If there is one event in world history you could change, what would it be ?

9/11 it was a tragic day for all of us in America. I was only in pre-school at the time and can only imagine the loss.

3/ Staying with world history, what is the time period you would most like to live in ?

The Renaissance era. My parents took me to the Bristol Renaissance Faire almost every year. I really enjoy it. I love the jousting show they do. The era just interest me in some way. It sparks a light in my eyes I do not understand why. I feel I connect to that era some how,

4/ If there is one sport you can excel at above all others, which would it be ?

archery, I am hoping to learn soon and I think it would be fun.

5/ If you could invite one of the worlds most famous philosophers to dine with you, who would it be ?

I have no idea I never learned about famous philosophers to really answer this question. If it was just a famous person I would say Matt Smith he is a British actor who played the eleventh doctor in Doctor who ( A British TV show that is my favorite and he is my favorite doctor from the show.)

6/ If you were a character in George Orwell's 'ANIMAL FARM' which one would you be ?

To be perfectly honest I never read the book so I have no idea.

7/ What is your all time favourite film ?

Harry Potter I grew up seeing all the movies and read every single book. I enjoy the last two Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2.

8/ What is your signature dish/favorite meal?

I Love pizza. My mom does not make a lot of homemade meals. Though I do Love the chili she makes without beans.

9/ What is your favorite poem?

My favorite poem I wrote is my first Cubbie Bear poem it is in My Poetry Through the Year. It was the first poem I wrote sophomore year of high school and I believe one of my best.

10/ what makes you a happy person ?

I really do not know I just enjoy life and do what I love. I usually always smile. I am just a naturally happy person.

11/ Where in the world (or out of it) would you most like to travel to?

I would LOVE to travel to Paris. I have always had an interest to Paris and the United Kingdom.

Here are my nominees!

First is Joshua Iyer, He is a young man who dreams to be a composer.. His blog show cases some of his recent achievements and works.

The second is Gabriella Franzone. Her blog is about music where she will do covers and talk about her favorite singers Austin Mahone and Becky G.

I think that is it I can not seem to find any more blogs. so here are my questions for my nominees!

  1. What inspired you to start blogging?

2. If you were able to move tomorrow to anywhere around the world where would you go and why?

3. what is your favorite book?

4. What time period would you like to live in? From the past or future.

5. who do you look up to?

7. What is your dream job?

8. what is your favorite meal?

Where did they go?” I asked Hope, my best friend, as I saw my little sis and her so called "boyfriend" running towards the giant rock. The rock was red and seemed to have a tunnel system that seemed to be two stories high.

"I have no idea." She said shrugging and shaking her head.

"Maybe we should silently follow them to find out?" I asked nodding my head in their general direction. Hope just shrugged and followed my lead. So we tip toed through the field. Staying far enough that they would not notice us. Then they went into one of the cave entrance. Hope and I waited a minute before following in after them. That is when I heard giggling. My heart was racing. Then I stopped suddenly. My arm raised to stop Hope. My eyes widen in shock.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING TO MY SISTER!"

A Year After.....

Today marks the one year anniversary of my Nanna ( Grandma) passing. She was the best Nanna a grandchild could have. She would play her guitar and sing songs as I would dance when I was young. She was a fun Nanna. When she had to go live in a nursing home. We would visit on Sundays after going to church and having lunch. We would play games, watch the Chicago Cubs and just enjoy each other. We would even make extra visits for the fourth of July or during the Christmas holiday the nursing home would have people visit we would surprise her by showing up for it. Then, when my Aunt decided that it would be best for her to move closer to her I was devastated. So by that point we had to drive four and a half hours to see her. We would go every Thanksgiving, a few Easters and some birthdays.

A year a go today was when she passed quietly. She had to wait for her last Cubs win before she left and about one hour after Rizzo brought in the winning run and she heard her last GO CUBS GO! She was a huge cubs fan and wanted to see them win the world series. Though she did not get her world series win, I hope this is the year where I may go and enjoy the win in her place.

With her leaving I changed a lot. Over the school year I explored new options and enjoyed every minute of it. It. I published my first book My Poetry Through the Years, which the last poem is dedicated to her. I know she would of been very proud of me for publishing not just the poetry book but also the collection of short stories. She is proud of me for graduating too. But, overall she is proud that I have pressed forward and not back since she left. She did hear some of the poems in my book before passing. Mostly all the cubs poems. She enjoyed them. So here is a poem to reflect on this last year and how much I miss my Nanna.

Love never dies

You were there for me
At time of need
At time of happiness
At time of love

You were there for me
When I was young
Dancing to your music
We had our own saying
" see you later alligator
In a while crocodile. "
We had our own song
"You are my sunshine"
We had our fun
But now you are gone
But I live on in memory
Of you
My love will never die
For you
All I have done
This last year
Is for you
I know
You are proud
And you know what the
Future will bring
Go Cubs!
I Love you Nanna!

Monday Poetry

Partitions

We are divided

With different beliefs

We are broken up

Into different

Groups

With

White, black, indian,

Gay, straight

Married or single.

Men or woman

Partitions are part

Of our lives

But why

Do we have

To be separated

Why not be

One

Let us stop

The partition

In our life

And

Become

One!

I had to look up this word "Partition" to understand what to write about. I believe that I understand and hope you enjoy this poem. I can not wait for next weeks theme!

Monday flashfiction

Hi everyone! Sorry that this is late I realized the poetry event is not going so I found a new event for Mondays. This is an other flash fiction like Wednesday but I am given a picture and starter sentence and only need 100-150 words. So here is the flash fiction.

© 2015, Barbara W. Beacham

“He thought he found the perfect hiding spot.”

“1…2…3…4…5…”

“I need to find a spot.” Oreo the bunny thought as he hoped around.

“6…7…” Kaitlyn, his owner, said counting out load. Her hands over her eyes.

“Where can I hind?” Oreo thought hoping around then came across a laundry basket.

“This is perfect.” Oreo said and hoped over to it. He then knocked it over and hide inside.

“Kaitlyn will never find me.” Oreo said so proud of himself.

“8…9…10. Here or not. Here I come!” Kaitlyn yelled. She opened her eyes and started to search for Oreo.

“Oreo where are you?” Kaitlyn said. Oreo just giggled.

“She will never find me under here.” He said while giggling. Then he stopped because he heard Kaitlyn’s footsteps.

Kaitlyn walked around the corner and saw that Oreo was hiding under the laundry basket next to her dresser in her bedroom.

“Found you!” She yelled as she pulled up the basket.

Hope you enjoyed this flash fiction!

Poem: Habit 2

I wake up every morning

To the sounud of my alarm

not wanting to get out

of bed

I mon

Finally rolling out of bed

I pick out my outfit

For the day

Grabbing my phone and computer

I run downstairs

grabbing breakfast

Looking in the mirror

Packing everything up

"I am leaving!" I yell walking out

the door

I am off to school.

This is a newer version of my first poem. The original is the post before this one. I believe this is a bit better because it expresses a thought. This was my morning routine. When I was at school. Though I have graduated, I am going to college and will be driving to and from. So this will be my habit when school starts again in August.

Poem: Habit

Habit

The thing you

do each day.

Some good and bad

The good

work,  and school

They keep you busy

and

make you think

The bad

drugs, drinking and more

what you not

want to do to yourself

Habits come in all different

What My writing would have to accomplish to consider myself a true success?

The simple answer would be money. Thou, I think it is more than just the money. I want to be someone in the writing community. I want to be a one of the best-selling authors or be known like them. I want to be on Good Morning America or the Today Show. I want to be interviewed about my books and prompt them. I one day want one of my books to become a movie where my boy friend writes the music for it. I want to have awesome fans that dress up as my characters. I want a theme pack designed off my books.  Thou, making the money and going to schools. Just small things would be fun too. Been able to inspire others to write would make me feel like a true success.

What is your true success?

The Heat is On- Prompt from The Daily Post

Do you thrive under pressure or crumble at the thought of it? Does your best stuff surface as the deadline approaches or do you need to iterate, day after day to achieve something you're proud of? Tell us how you work best."

Well... When I write creatively, My poems, short stories, or novels,  the ideas just come to me or as I am writing I get the buzz. But when it is essays or papers for school I tend to wait until last minute to write it and I flunk very badly at it. I am a creative writer not a article, paper writer. I tend to let my feelings take over and just let my thoughts go down on paper. I do not like research and other papers you have to write for English class. I tend to not be able to say what I want to say for the papers. Even though I have the organization down. I have trouble sometimes letting my thoughts out and writing them on paper.

In conclusion, I am for my creative side I go day by day to achieve something I am proud of. For school I tend to wait the last day and struggle to do a good job writing the paper.

How do you work best?

Be Inspired By a Fellow Blogger!

Hello everyone! Yesterday my mission was to comment on new blogs. I saw many blogs but, some had no option to comment. So the one blog I commented on was Fast Pencil: Self-Publishing blog. The post that I read was four small things you can do to promote your book send a press release. I thought this post was very inspiring  and very informational. The idea of not needing a blog to promote your book interest me. The fact that I could summit a press release, gain some reader and I get my name out in my community was intriguing. I think I may try this once my novel takes shape and is closer to being published. Check out the blog if you are wanting to get published and need to promote your book.

How to Self Publish a Poem book

Hello everyone! I got a question from bethfinkie about what is the processes in publishing a poetry book. So here it goes!

1. when I wanted to publish my first book I was googling a lot. I was looking for a website that would allow me to published at no charge. I also used YouTube to watch videos on other people using the site and their thoughts. Once I learned about amazon's direct publishing e-book I decided to try it out.

Also when I wanted to find a site to do print I found Lulu.com to be the easiest and cheapest opposition. They do offer professional service but I went with the free-Do it your self- opposition. I also found out that they do free e-books too. Were I am not just available on amazon, but also, nook, ibook, and kobo. So through Lulu I am on more e-book platforms. That was a plus for me! I felt limited with amazon.

2. Formatting

When I found out that i could directly publish to kindle, I found what the formatting is for making an e-book. I found that you just need to have heading for each poem and create a table of contestant. I was using Microsoft word for all of this.

For lulu I needed the same things but there was a minimum of 32 pages that I had to do for the paper copy. Also I believe for e-book to but it may not matter for eBook.

3. Choosing poems

So for the first book I had already all the poems written. So all I needed to do was take all the poems and sort them where they were kinda put together by topic.

For the second one I had a few poems that did not make it to the first book so I put them in this one and since I have to have about 32 pages for my book on lulu I continued writing when an idea came to me and just added it to the book. When I finally reached the 32 page minimum I was ready to start editing and double checking formatting. After all that I was ready to upload.

4. uploading

This step was pretty simple since you just fill out what ether kindle or lulu wanted. The title, author name, rights, description, price, cover and uploading the file of the book. It is very simple to do. For the first two book I just went through the processes and done! But for my second poem book I am having one of my best friends who is an artist design the cover for the book. That is why it is not up yet. I did not like to chooses for the covers when you just go through the steps. So I decided I need a nicer cover. Hopefully soon I will be able to show everyone the cover for the book.

5. Submitting

So after you have done all the steps to upload your book. You wait about 24-48 hour for amazon to put it up. For lulu it may take a month or more. They have to review your book. Then kindle, nook, iBook and kobo review the book. If they accept it you will find it up on their website in about a month.

I hope this helps! Anyone wanting to self-publish I would use Lulu.com since they can sent your eBook to all the different providers.

Coming Soon to a e-book store near you!

I am proud to announced that my second poetry book will be available on all e-book devices including: kindle, nook, ibook, and kobo. The finishing touches are in the final stages.  I am hoping the book will be up and running in a month or soon.

This book contains many more great poems. The main theme in this book is change, new beginnings. The reason is the fact that I had just graduated from high school. It is a big accomplishment for me. So a good portion of these poems are just my reflection on that accomplishment. There are also others like fandom, sports and summer.

I soon will have more info on this wonderful book. When it will be available, a sneak peek of the book and the awesome book cover!!!!!

Stay tune and comment if you have any more questions.

The Fourth at the Zoo!

Happy fourth everyone! Hope you guys enjoyed the fireworks and your family and friends. So for my fourth we saw the fireworks on the third and then went to the zoo to see a light show!  Here are photos of many of the animals I saw at the zoo.

CAM00933

The picture above is the American bison. There were about three of them at the time I went to the zoo. There was a baby and it's parents I am not sure which one is photoed above. Fun Fact: The bison's thick, shaggy coat is so well insulated that snow can settle on its back without melting

CAM00952

CAM00956

The next two above are the polar bears. Fun fact: A polar bear's fur is not white!!  It is hollow.  The fur reflects light.  The hollow fur also traps the suns heat to help keep the polar bear warm

CAM00955

Above is the grizzly bear. Fun fact: Grizzly bear have brown fur, but hairs on the shoulders and back have white tops which give them "grizzled" look. That is why they are known as grizzly bears.

CAM00958

These seagulls have injured wings. So the Zoo takes care of them and feeds them 2,000lbs of fish each day! That is a lot of fish!

CAM00962

The above picture are the True black and white clown fish. though many people may only know about the orange and white striped clown fish. If you have seen finding nemo, You also may recognize the next fish as well.

CAM00963

This fish also from Finding Nemo! Known as Dory is a regal blue tang. This fish with its blue and black body with a yellow and a little black on the sides is a very playful and fun fish.

CAM00939

The picture above is an giraffe. This one looks like the younger one of the many I saw at the zoo. There were many of them there and I believe this one is the baby of them.

CAM00968

CAM00966

Last but not least here are the penguins. These guys were swimming and laying around when I was there. They seemed to be chilling a bit. The penguins are one of my favorite animals to see at the zoo.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
